|FAQS

We’ve got answers

Regular maintenance helps your heating and cooling system operate efficiently, reduces the chance of unexpected breakdowns, and can extend its useful life. During a maintenance visit, Prime Climate inspects the system, cleans key components, checks electrical connections, verifies proper operation, and looks for developing problems before they become expensive repairs.

We generally recommend professional maintenance twice per year—once before cooling season and once before heating season. In the Myrtle Beach area, HVAC systems work especially hard because of the heat, humidity, and salt exposure, so routine maintenance is particularly important.

Common warning signs include weak airflow, unusual noises or odors, inconsistent temperatures, frequent cycling, rising electric bills, water around the indoor unit, ice on the refrigerant lines, or air that is not cooling properly. If you notice any of these issues, having the system checked early may help prevent further damage.

Replace or clean your air filter regularly, keep supply and return vents unobstructed, use reasonable thermostat settings, seal air leaks, and schedule routine maintenance. Proper equipment sizing and well-sealed ductwork also make a major difference. If your system is older, upgrading to higher-efficiency equipment may reduce energy use and improve comfort.

Many HVAC systems last approximately 10–15 years, although maintenance, installation quality, usage, and environmental conditions all affect their lifespan. Coastal heat, humidity, and salt air can shorten equipment life. Prime Climate can evaluate your system and give you an honest recommendation on whether repairing or replacing it makes better financial sense.

Repair may make sense when the system is relatively young, otherwise dependable, and the repair cost is reasonable. Replacement may be the better investment when the equipment is older, needs frequent repairs, uses outdated refrigerant, struggles to keep the home comfortable, or has become expensive to operate. We’ll explain the available options so you can make an informed decision without unnecessary pressure.

Start with proper filtration, humidity control, clean equipment, and adequate airflow. Depending on your home, solutions may include upgraded filters, media air cleaners, UV lights, air purification products, dehumidification, or ductwork improvements. We can evaluate your home and recommend solutions based on the actual issue rather than selling you equipment you may not need.

Yes, Prime Climate provides estimates for HVAC system replacements and new installations. We’ll assess your home, discuss your comfort goals and budget, and recommend properly sized options. Diagnostic or troubleshooting visits for malfunctioning equipment are separate service calls and may include a service fee.
